Women in the United States are still paid, on average, 75% of the salary of their male counterparts. As the news attests daily, it is difficult to be a woman facing a glass ceiling and other gender specific challenges. It’s even harder for girls who grow up in impoverished cities like Camden where opportunities for networking and professional growth are scarce. Girls in Camden routinely express feeling marginalized and lack the confidence to own their own unique beauty and place in the world. The Girls’ Program at UrbanPromise is devoted to building self-esteem, personal growth, and creating opportunities for our teen girls to dream big and have the confidence to follow those dreams.
