Siomara Wedderburn is a youth advocate, avid speaker and minister. She has dedicated her life to serving the needs of marginalized youth and families. As a Social worker for the Division of Child Protection and Permanency she helped many children find their forever homes and trained many up and coming child advocates. She is a fierce supporter of women and children and loves helping them discover their authentic selves and move toward purposeful living. In 2016 Sio took a pivot in her career, recognizing her call to create healing spaces, leaving her career in child welfare and returning to UrbanPromise as the Director of Children and Youth Ministries. Today, as the Director of Wellness, she is charged with overseeing the well-being of the children in UrbanPromise programs through a holistic framework. Through counseling services, family support, training, nutrition education and special events our children and families are empowered toward leading healthier lifestyles. Sio is also charged with helping UrbanPromise become a trauma-informed organization to assure each child is treated with care and dignity. A graduate of Rutgers University with a BA in Psychology and a Masters in Social Work, Sio lives in NJ with her husband Dwayne. She is the proud mother of Jaden, Sianna and Mya, motherhood is her greatest joy.
