Giving Tuesday: Help a family in crisis this season!

Nov. 28, 2022

Imagine being a single mom and finally being able to purchase your first home.

I remember the call from Linda, “God finally did it, we have our own home,” she said as she cried tears of gratitude. We rejoiced together.

Just a few months later, some medical issues put her out of work indefinitely. She filed for disability and was denied. She filed an appeal and waited, prayerfully. Then a global pandemic hit, everything shut down, including the court system. Her appeal was backlogged. Her finances were insufficient.

Still, Linda believed that God would make a way and stood in faith, prayerfully, patiently waiting on a miracle.

Thankfully, UrbanPromise’s Emergency Family Fund allows us to walk alongside our families at their hardest moments. Through the generosity of so many of you, we were able to rally behind Linda, helping with her mortgage and providing Christmas gifts for her to give to her kids.

Linda called me recently. I could hear her crying, “You are not going to believe it, I had to call you first. The disability appeal was finally approved after two years and they are back-paying me for the wait.” Once again, we cried cried together, thankful for God’s provision!

This Giving Tuesday, we’re asking you to make a contribution to the Emergency Family Fund to support families like Linda’s. Too often, one unexpected hardship can have ripple effects for a family. With your support, we can stand with and help weather the storm.

Thank you!

It was a relief to have our heat turned back on last winter, especially at Christmas time – I wasn’t sure what we we’re going to do. That is until I got the call that UrbanPromise could help us. -Parent of a 1st and 5th grader at our elementary school

When my mom died, we temporarily lost all our benefits, like food stamps, until the paperwork got done. UrbanPromise made sure  my brother and I had what we needed during that time.   -UrbanPromise Academy Student

I am so grateful UrbanPromise helped my family with the rent for two months last year. They kept my kids safe in our home when I was suddenly in the hospital.  -Parent of two children in our AfterSchool Program
