UrbanPromise accepts any range of donations. Your gift—no matter how big or small—allows our organization to continue serving hundreds of Camden children and teens each year.

Child Sponsors have been the backbone of UrbanPromise since our first summer camp in 1988. Just $30 a month ($360/year) provides a Camden child with a year of engaging and educational programming within a neighborhood-based AfterSchool Program and Summer Camp. Each year, these sponsorships allow more than 500 children to participate in activities that improve their academic performance, teach necessary life skills, establish positive relationships with caring adults, explore the arts, and nurture their faith. As part of your sponsorship, you will receive a welcome packet, three annual updates about the camp you support (including a camp profile), opportunities to visit your camp, and thank-you messages from UrbanPromise children.
UrbanPromise’s StreetLeader Program is currently the largest private employer of teens in the city of Camden. Through an innovative, hands-on approach to job training, the StreetLeader Program offers employment to around 100 Camden-area teens throughout the year. In addition to preparing StreetLeaders for the professional world, UrbanPromise offers academic enrichment and support, college preparation assistance, health and fitness classes, and community service activities.
Because of our Teen Sponsors, the StreetLeader Program has seen remarkable results: Over the past two years, 100% of our high school seniors have graduated and 93% have gone on to college. A monthly gift of $42 ($500 /year) enables UrbanPromise to continue supporting our teens in achieving academically, personally, and professionally. By becoming a Teen Sponsor, you will receive at least two StreetLeader correspondences, updates about the camp where your teen works, and the opportunity to visit your teen’s camp site.
The UrbanPromise Wellness Center’s mission is to address the impact of toxic stress on Camden children and teens, providing the opportunity for optimal wellbeing of body, mind, and spirit. Our primary goal to build resilience and reducing the impact of toxic stress among our 600+ youth is accomplished through various educational and behavioral health services.
UrbanPromise’s expeditionary education program, UrbanTrekkers provides hands-on learning and journey-based experiences to roughly 70 youth each year. Through travel to places beyond their everyday lives, youth are motivated to learn more about themselves and the world around them and to develop their potential as young leaders. UrbanTrekkers also includes Urban BoatWorks, which educates Camden youth in the craft of wooden boat building, swimming and sailing.
Through monthly donations of $150, or an annual gift of $1,800, Trekker Sponsors enable UrbanPromise to offer experiential and expeditionary trips at little to no charge to participants. Travel outside of their everyday environment provides our youth with memorable and often life-changing experiences—made possible only through the support of our sponsors. As a Trekker Sponsor, you will receive a profile of your Trekker, the opportunity to meet your Trekker at an annual event, at least three postcards from your Trekker during his/her travels, and additional updates about experiential learning at UrbanPromise from the program director.
UrbanPromise’s two schools—CamdenForward School (K-8) and UrbanPromise Academy (9-12)—educate approximately 150 Camden-area youth each year. The schools offer a challenging curriculum with an emphasis on experiential learning and character development. Sponsoring a student through UrbanPromise’s Partner Program provides a Camden child or teen with a year of quality education within a safe, structured, and stimulating environment rich in love and compassion. A Partner’s investment provides much more than just a student’s tuition: partners encourage and motivate our young people to stay focused on their studies, persevere and overcome challenges, and value their education.
Partners can choose to support a student with an annual gift of $2,500, $5,000, $7,500 or more. The educational cost for a student at our UrbanPromise schools is $7,500 annually. Our families pay a predetermined tuition amount based on income need. Each student is offered a scholarship to pay the remaining balance through the UrbanPromise Kindergarten to College Scholarship. Your Partner gift helps to fund your student partner’s education through the K to College Scholarship.
UrbanPromise encourages Partners to learn more about their students by attending twice annual Partner Day events at the school, sending birthday and holiday cards, and passing along notes of encouragement to your student. You will also receive at least three correspondences and updates from your student (including a student profile), messages from teachers and administrators, and the opportunity to visit campus during the regular school day.
UrbanPromise's internship program provides college-aged adults with year-round or summertime training in urban youth development and ministry. Interns work in our after-school and summer camps and live in community in the Camden neighborhood in which they work. Their role at UrbanPromise is essential to our organization's operational and programmatic success as they work on a volunteer basis and act as positive role models to the children and teens in their camps.
