The Science of Belonging: Why Relationships Matter More Than Ever for Young People

This virtual workshop offers a behind-the-scenes look at UrbanPromise’s relational approach to youth development and why it matters in Camden. Anthony Holness will share insights from both his experience growing up at UrbanPromise and his clinical mental health training, exploring how belonging and consistent relationships support healing and healthy brain development. Dr. Becky Bryan will offer a broader perspective on resilience and the vital role of community and wellness-centered programming in supporting young people and families.
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of UrbanPromise as a relational ecosystem helping young people move from crisis toward stability, purpose, and hope.

This engaging conversation will be hosted by Anthony Holness, UrbanPromise alumnus and mental health professional — a Doctor of Nursing Practice Candidate, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner student, and Cardiothoracic Surgical Registered Nurse — and Dr. Becky Bryan, founder of UrbanPromise’s Wellness Program and now head of New Jersey’s Office of Resilience. They will explore how healthy, consistent relationships form the foundation of resilience for young people, particularly those that have experienced trauma.
This conversation is part of our ongoing Donor Education Series, designed to help partners and supporters more deeply understand Camden, our young people, and the work we are building together.
