Your support has helped us serve over 275 campers in a 6-week summer program. We hired 56 StreetLeaders to serve in summer camps across 4 neighborhood-based sites in Camden!

On the last day of camp, our staff asked our kids to reflect on the summer. One by one, they waved their hands proudly, waiting to be called on. They shared words of gratitude, stories of joy, and moments of inspiration. Our young campers said goodbye to their friends, StreetLeaders, and program directors. For many, it was emotional.
“That is how you know we did a great job this summer,” shared Albert Vega, Director of our Children & Youth Ministries, “For camp kids and StreetLeaders to cry because they don’t want this to be over, that’s special. They all started at the beginning as strangers, so building a relationship like this is beautiful.”
One parent of a summer camper shared, “My son couldn’t stop talking about camp after his first day. He loves the StreetLeaders; I think he’s your number one fan. It was great for him. Thank you for what you all do. He needed this. We needed this.”
With the summer behind us, we’re gearing up for After School and StreetLeader programming during the school year.
For the next nine months, we’ll have robust programming for our camp kids and StreetLeaders. Campers will participate in clubs, group games and go on trips to museums, Johnson’s Corner Farm, and more.
Our StreetLeaders will mentor our younger campers, teach classes, and help with their homework. On top of that, StreetLeaders will continue academic enrichment classes, go on college visits, and take trips to other cities like New York and Washington, D.C. to get more career exposure.
