Volunteers support special activities for students and staff throughout the year! Here you’ll find some of our typical annual activities by month.

January – Volunteers serve at our annual MLK Day of Service. Volunteers are needed to serve as mentors for the scholarship pageant and mentor students as they write their MLK speeches for the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Speech contest.
March – Volunteers needed to help with special events listed on March volunteer calendar
April – Volunteers and donations are needed to help UrbanPromise sponsor spring break trips for the after-school programs and high school
May – Volunteers wrap-up their volunteer service for the school year & volunteers participate in scheduled development fundraising events listed on May calendar
June – Greeters and servers for graduations & donations for intern meals are needed
July – Volunteers are needed to serve in the summer camps, with facilities, and administration offices. Donations for weekly intern pool parties/dinners are needed.
August – Volunteers are needed to help with the All Camp Day celebration . Volunteers are needed to help prep the school classrooms and buildings for the new academic school year.
September – Volunteers are needed to help teachers and afterschool directors set-up their classrooms and sites for the new year. All volunteers are encouraged to attend Volunteer Fair and Training Night.
October – Volunteers are needed to help set up & clean up the annual banquet including greeting guests. Volunteers are needed for the annual Harvest Carnival and Trunk or Treat events.
November – Volunteers are needed to help with packaging Thanksgiving meal bags in Food Co-Op, serving & cooking thanksgiving dinners for families. Donations of snacks and meals for the annual two-day UPI summit (250 people) are needed.
December – Volunteers are needed to serve in Christmas Stores . Volunteers are also needed to set-up the Staff Party. Donations to support Christmas Stores (toys) and Staff Party- (100- $25 gift cards) are appreciated.
